May June July August and now it is September

And I still haven't made any posts?
What is going on?
Some pictures to keep you in the loop. Good flowers, and some not such good flowers. One of my growers gotten eaten up by another, but some of the product quality just keeps getting better. Give and take. Balance. Trying some new growers! Nice flower work and some not so nice arrangements, a new computer, some art, some wedding work, some bowling, some hacky sack, and some bike riding. Some camping, some yoga, some of this and that. If I can just get these darned pictures to upload. Guess I'll have to try again in the morning. ummm.... A visit with family and hanging out with new friends and old friends. Quite a year to bare. Hope to see you here or there!

When did Mother's Day get to be so big?

Maybe because I had a huge party with 75 peices on Thursday. But, that still doesn't account for the fact that I did 80 something arrangements on Saturday. The orders were bigger than expected too. We had such a great selection of flowers :Anemones and Roses and Iris and Gerbera and Orchids and Ginger and Anthurium, Tulips, Bells of Ireland, Larkspur, Nigella, Lilies, Dahlias, Hyacinths, Heliconia, Freesia and on and on. I have to say it was a success, but the best part is that there are not anymore of these all out floral holidays until next year. I know it seems like we love this monumental amount of business all at once, but quite honestly, it takes it's toll on us. Yes, yes the cash flow is good, but is it worth it? Maybe yes, maybe no. Yes, we need to roll in the dough once and a while to feel needed and wanted, but when it comes down to the bottom line, there is more to be made on regular consistent business than the all out knock em' out, can we do em' all, take every order, make everyone happy business. Ok, I am complaining a bit, but that is just because I am a bit exhausted. All in all it was good and the team we have here made it a breeze, so I am just going to leave it at that. Thanks Team More Flowers!! And by the way, Happy Anniversary to Jason! 7 Years service to More Flowers!

Single and Such

Thought a few photos of me would help?

More Flowers is looking for some new help. We will be having a gradual turnover come summer and fall, so give me a shout if you are interested.

Administrative Professionals Day/Week is next week, so don't forget to say thank you with some flowers!!

Mother's Day is just around the corner, so if you ordered last year, you will be getting your reminder call around the 1st of May.

Yet once again, Spring is in the air in Colorado, and the darned Tulips are practically over. The spring flowers are always better before the actual spring time. So Anemones and Ranunculus are almost gone too. The local greenhouse Iris are still really nice though, and the Rose are coming in from California better than ever. I have my fingers crossed that my local field flowers will be coming this year too. Many of the growers have had hard times and are getting out of the business. Too much competition coming from South America explains the problem. Heating a greenhouse is extremely cost prohibitive in Colorado, in fact, we lost another grower this year right before Valentine's Day. Oddly though, there is a new grower of Orchid Plants that moved into an old Rose growers facility. They have exceptional product, but their survival is really subject to the public buying more Orchid Plants.

That is all the news for now...

Valentine's Day Information... please read before placing your order online!

Yesterday, we started our call outs to all the people that ordered Valentine's Day flowers last year. We do this every year, and have such great luck at getting lots of repeat orders, but more importantly, maintain some calm. By getting our orders lined up early, we partially eliminate some of the mayhem at the end, and take care of our regulars! Unfortunately for all of the demand, it pressures our system, the supply, and our ability to fill every last order. Prices MUST go up from February 11th to the 14th. It is the only way for us to make sure that you get what you are used to, abundance, quality, freshness, the best!!

Initially we start with a price schedule that is most expensive for delivery on Thursday the 14th of February, and is less costly each day prior to the 14th. It is always better to send the flowers a couple of days earlier anyway, because things are so out of control as we get closer. Plus the deliveries are more timely and the flowers are enjoyed and envied longer. As we get booked up, and the early birds are taken care of, we raise the prices again. So you are rewarded for planning ahead. The price MINIMUMS listed are good for a couple of more days.

Valentine's Day is Looming...

Less than three weeks away, Valentine's Day is upon us. Last year for the first time ever, I cut off order taking the day before the 14th. Topped that by putting a sign in the door, that we were not accepting walkins. Please order early, and now is the time.

Next week, we will call out to anyone that ordered last year, and give them a reminder to order. The best pricing is between now and the 31st. Once we roll into February, prices start to go up. I am still trying to decide how to price for this year. Seems last year our prices were right on, but due to the huge demand, and the higher costs of doing business this year, I think we will have to raise the prices a bit.

Please know, despite what the holiday appears to be to the outsider, Valentine's Day is not the huge money maker that you might think. Ask any flower person in the business, and they will tell you that when it is all said and done, it is a spin your wheels faster week. We usually end up realizing we just worked really really hard for not to much more. The upside is that this is the one time a year that there are so many flower arrangements out there all on the same day. People get to see our work against all the others, and the difference is very clear. So, I like to say that it is the best marketing day of the year. We always get lots of spin off business from what we send out on Valentine's Day.

I will be posting pricing here on the blog over the next few days. Please don't wait, call your order in now! Oh, and this is the one time you will hear me say it.... Happy Valentine's Day!!
