Lots of things going on since August...

For starters, my birthday was wonderful! Just a really great week and lots of love and friends and fun. I guess I had no less than 20 acknowlegements of my birthday by cards, emails, calls, and visits. German Chocolate Cake from Gateaux as always, a couple of great dinners out, and some wonderful gifts.

Fall is in the air, and the field flowers are starting to fade, but not gone yet. Business is picking up as people switch gears for the changes that occur right around now. Luckily I got one last camping trip in for the summer. Went to Chaco Canyon and El Malpais in northern New Mexico and then onto Ouray. Beautiful and amazing, educational, and relaxing. A very brief visit from my brother Andrew, a couple of holidays, green chiles, a visit to the Denver Botanic Gardens, a picnic at confluence, and lots of other good times passed the rest of the end of summer away. Fall is great in Colorado, so I can let summer go. There is something very magical about the last seven months!

By the way, the photos are of a Praying Mantis that visited my front door a few weeks ago. A couple of shots at the Botanic garden... the blue Ginger was blooming and palms were making really beautiful displays. And that is me and my brother Andrew. And my white Ginger plant made it's annual flower.

Speaking of my plants blooming!!! I am having some great luck lately with my Orchid Plants. In the last month, two Phals have spiked and are blooming. Three Cymbidiums have sent up numerous spikes. And at least 3 other "intergenerics" have bloomed. Plus, I have two Dendrobium that are sending up tiny spikes too. I am thrilled, ask anyone that has taken the time for me to show them off in the shop. I guess it really does help to repot, fertilize, water, and give some tender love to these tricky plants. Maybe my next post will be pictures of my Orchid plants blooming.

As my Dad always says, that's the news for the day, or in this case month!
